Company History

In 2004, two individuals decided to serve the rural and remote area communications needs of Western Canada. Specifically, Glen Boyd and Phil Sarozek noticed that even though rural Canada contributed a significant amount to the Canadian economy through activities in the resource sectors and agricultural communities, these areas were also extremely underserved with communication platforms. It was the vision of Boyd and Sarozek to bring the same quality communication capabilities that were typically found in Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, or other major urban centre of Canada, to these rural centres. As a result, PeaceCom Ltd. was born and resided in Grande Prairie, Alberta, where Boyd was a native to the area.

PeaceCom, which would eventually transform into PCC Communications Inc., was not the pair's first venture together. In 1997, Boyd and Sarozek collaborated on bringing another communications company, Total Telcom, to the public market after Boyd started the company in the late eighties. The company, in which Boyd served as CEO until 2001, was one of the top performing stocks on the TSE for eighteen months running. It was during his tenure in this company, however, that Boyd came to realize more and more that a critical market was not being served with high-end communication resources. That market was the rural and remote regions of Canada where some of the top producing resource sector companies in the world called home. He left his position from Total and began putting the pieces together to form what would become PeaceCom Ltd., returning to his roots in Grande Prairie in the process.

Starting with providing wireless data transmission, the company quickly expanded into two-way voice communications. In the meantime, through Boyd and Sarozek's contacts and personal financial backing, the company acquired a fiber-optic network extending from Fort St. John British Columbia to Edmonton, Alberta - over 900 kilometres in total. Almost out of the gate, PeaceCom became one of the largest independent wireless service providers in all of Western Canada. Soon, it would become an even more notable entity by providing an expansion of services that Boyd and Sarozek envisioned from day one with PeaceCom. The expansion, which involved amalgamating with several like-minded communications companies, officially came to pass in the spring of 2007. The brand of the company changed to PCC Communications Inc. and the rest is, as they say, history.

Today, PCC is poised to become a one-stop provider of all communications in literally every aspect of the field, including complete communications management for large enterprise operations. The diversity through the expansion was a strategic move with the intent being to eliminate the headaches most companies face when it comes to their communication infrastructure and management of such. PCC was designed to be a "one phone call" communications company, something not many other communications enterprises in the market space could lay claim.
